09-6-2005

ALVISO, Calif. — Sept. 6, 2005 — TiVo, the creator of and a leader in television services for digital video recorders (DVR), announced today a new $150 mail-in rebate that makes the legendary TiVo® Series2™ 40-hour DVR available for just $49.99 after rebate and service activation, the lowest price ever for the digital video recorder.

Additionally, the Company will kick off a nationwide contest to find a TiVo Ambassador to lead its legion of fans to spread the word about the celebrated ability of TiVo to revolutionize the way we watch TV.

"Whether you're new to the service or finally getting one for every TV in your house, at $49.99 after rebate, there's no reason not to bring the TiVo experience into your life," said Tom Rogers, CEO of TiVo. "We're spreading the 'TiVo, TV Your Way' message far and wide with the launch of a nationwide contest to enlist our most passionate supporters — TiVo subscribers — to help get the word out about the new low price and about the benefits of watching TV with a TiVo box."

As TiVo's number one evangelist, the TiVo Ambassador will have the opportunity to participate in various promotional activities over a one year period. The winner will receive $25,000 and a TiVo-branded Mini Cooper, a prize package worth approximately $50,000.

"We all know that telling our friends and family about the wonders of the TiVo experience is really part of the fun of owning a TiVo box," said Rogers. "Every day I run into subscribers who tell me, 'You wouldn't believe how many TiVo boxes I've sold.' Now we're giving them a chance to prove it. I want to find the most passionate, most enthusiastic TiVo evangelist to help further the TiVolution."

To be eligible, candidates must be participants in the TiVo Rewards program and have earned 25,000 points prior to the contest start date of November 27, 2005. In addition, candidates must submit a creative video that shows they have what it takes to be the TiVo Ambassador, write a short essay extolling the personal attributes they possess that make them a good candidate, as well as provide a short testimonial from a friend recommending them for the position. All of these materials and the official entry form must be sent to TiVo, postmarked no later than December 31, 2005.

Over 250,000 TiVo subscribers have enrolled in the company's rewards program that launched just one year ago. The program awards points and merchandise to TiVo owners who refer new subscribers.

To encourage referrals, TiVo is also launching a "Passion Pays Off" sweepstakes.
